dancers don't sweat... they glow!

So COF Dance Project is in full swing again, and due to my silly idea of signing up for a total of 5 dances I feel as though I have pulled every muscle in my body. Also I can officially say that I do in fact feel the burn and it burns like a mother. But time and time again I have to remind myself that I have a passion for this and that I have been doing this since I was three. I remember my first dance recital, I did a ballet number to the song (and no I am not making this up) "Benny The Magic Bunny". I wore a little tutu with bunny ears and a bunny tail, and I was the cutest damn thing ever (totally bet the following years costume, eskimo, for sure). My mom still talks about how she remembers me dancing around the house, and wanting so badly to wear the costume to school, everyday for the rest of my life.

Dancing is in my blood, many people do not know this but my mom was a fantastic dancer when she was studying at Duval Dance studio. I do not think I am half as good as my mom, especially when it comes to ballet or pointe but I try and I put my all into it. I am very excited, I have a few idea's for next semester when it comes to doing my own piece but for now here is what the line up looks like:

Contemporary: Left Behind- Spring Awakening
The Dance- Charolette Martin
Tap: All That Jazz- Chicago The Musical
*Another Tap Number But Not Sure What The Music Is Yet*

Pointe: Shallow Lungs- The Sleeping (its weird, and may not be pointe)

All I can say, so far, I am going to have to dance my ass off (excuse the pun towards that lame oxygen show) to perfect all of this choreography.

p.s for anyone that is looking for a good laugh check this out.

Have a good week : ]

some tlc... and i am not talking tender love and care

So my roommate and I have recently come up with the most devine list of television shows to watch of the course of the week. I know that sounds like I am an 80 year old woman who has no other joy in life besides a few dozen cats and her soap operas. But now that classes are in full swing and dance classes have begun again, its always nice to take an hour or two out of a few days of the week to sit down and laugh/yell/cry at the television screen.

Check out this bad boy of a line up:

Mondays:
House
How I Met Your Mother
Gossip Girl
The Big Bang Theory

Tuesdays: Nothing....for shame!
Family Guy and Friends Re-Runs

Wednesdays:aka my favorite
So, You Think You Can Dance (Boston auditions were last night)
Glee

Thursdays:
Police Women of Broward County
LA Ink

Sundays:
Tool Academy
Kourtney and Kloe Take Miami
Reality Hell

So next time you need a break from destroying your eye sight due to too many hours stuck infront of a computer screen, check out the tv guide and unwind with some useless television.

Remember only one more days until the weekend!!!

I'm guilty I swear!

Now that classes are yet again in full swing, I am swamped with fundraising for COF Dance, homework, 12 hours in the Registrars, and attempting to lose some form of weight (hey we can all dream, can't we?) But when I get stressed out and feel that there is far too much on my plate I choose to make lists. OCD much? but alas that is how I roll. Whether it be a to-do list for the day or a list of music I need to download, I am guilty I composing one.

But today I thought I would make a list of things I like to do, which is rare compared to a list telling me I need to do homework, laundry, and other extremely boring choirs. So I have comprised a list of my guiltiest pleasures just to have something to look forward to once and awhile:

1. Peanut Butter M&M's: I am hooked, they are like crack you can not have just one of them. Best thing ever is sprinkling them on top of brownies (now you wonder why I am trying to go to the gym more).

2. So you think you can dance: This will be my 16th year of dancing, and when I see a show that showcases all different styles of dance (oh yeah, I am talking to you Russian Folk enthusiasts) it is amazing. To watch well known choreographers put together some of the craziest stuff I have ever seen it is really fun to see what COF will steal from that show and put in some of the pieces. Oh and plus there are 3 tappers in the new season who have already made it through the first round, REPRESENT!
P.S 10 points if you point out which dance this was:

3.Flair: aka pins, I have a growing collection of pins ha plus the fake ones on facebook. I just like to see people walking down the street with hundreds of them on their backpacks because it is a mini glimpse into what their personality is like. (ugh but end me if I see another damn "Bite Me" Twilight pin.... Edward Cullen is a man whore... get over it)

4. Cheesy Sitcoms: No I am not talking about The Brady Bunch or The Facts of Life, I am talking about How I Met Your Mother, Friends, Scrubs and That 70's Show. With the occasional effed up show like Dexter or Nip/Tuck (don't judge me). Hey at least I can say that I don't watch the Hills

5. Comfy Pants: it's like a vacation for your legs! And I am not just talking about some pink girly pair, I am talking men's XL where you look like you are trying so hard to fit in your parents clothes when you were a kid... But don't over do it, no one needs to see you walking into class with those bad boys on.

6. Classic Rock: Nothing is better to calm you down or get you in a better mood than jamming out to some Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Beatles, Creedance Clearwater Revival, etc. Sometimes I wish I was a hippie.

7. Cosmo Magazine: Besides the fact that it is great for scrap booking it is hilarious when it comes to the fact that some females would actually follow this magazine religiously. Plus they come up with the funniest sex articles (guys don't lie you read it too).

8. Mario Games: Whether its kicking some Bowser ass in Super Mario 64, or snatching every ones stars in Mario Party there is nothing better that having some outrageous fun and yelling at the TV screen every time you die.

9. Mystery/Psych Novels: Yeah the occasional Danielle Steel book may interest most but for me I look forward to snuggling up and reading about some psychopath or a hunt for religious puzzles. Some of my favorites thus far is Breathers, American Psycho, Darkly Dreaming Dexter, Angels and Demons, and any Augusten Burroughs novels.

10. Scrap Booking: I have made several over the past few years and let me tell you, Martha Stewart aint got nothing on me. Going to Michael's or A.C. Moore's is my type of shopping spree.

Well, I guess thats it. (kind of anti-climatic ohh well). Until next time.

Here I Go Again On My Own

So I finally got internet access last night, so now I can share about how it is to be back in Boston. The weather has been great, no hotter than 80 degrees ( but New England likes to screw with people, next week could bring a humid day followed by a snow storm....it's always a guessing game.) The course load looks manageable thus far, 3 psych classes plus an internship class as well as a religious studies course ( ugh the down side of going to a private catholic college).

Fenway hasn't been crazy due to the Red Sox are on the road, but once they are back in town it will be crazy. And since this coming weekend is going to be a long one (thank you Laborer's for deserving a special day) there has been plans of going to museums, and panera/upper crust. So excited!!

Junior year looks like its shaping up to be a good one. PeAcE!!!
